Gotham Week

Call for entries for feature films, documentaries, and/or serialized content

About Gotham Week

The Gotham Week (scheduled to take place virtually from 19 to 24 September) is the oldest and largest forum in the US for the discovery of new projects in development and new voices on the independent film scene and takes place following the Toronto International Film Festival. The week is made up of the Conference, a series of panel discussions and workshops open to attendees as well as the public, and the Project Market.

A primary outcome for all artists participating in the Project Market is the facilitation of career-spanning relationships with distributors, financiers, production companies, festival programmers, sales & talent agents, collaborators, & others. These invaluable relationships continue well beyond the 5 days of Gotham Week.

The Gotham currently has a call opened for projects at various stages of development & production.

This year, the Gotham is looking for feature films, documentaries, and/or serialized content to be selected for Gotham week. The NFVF and KZNFC will submit several projects, and the Gotham selection committee will select four projects. Their decision is final and cannot be contested.

As part of the NFVF beneficiary support programme in partnership with the KZN Film commission, we begin by sourcing projects from our existing database, projects we have funded in either development or production. Ideally, the Gotham will also be looking for projects that have some form of seed production funding.

Please note that they do not provide notes or feedback on reasons for an application not being selected.

Project Submission, including all supporting documentation be emailed to KZNFilmFund@kznfilm.co.za and clearly state Gotham Call on the subject line. Closing date for applications is the 11 July 2021.
