The KwaZulu Natal Film Commission launches the Audio Description Initiative

The KwaZulu Natal Film Commission will on the 2nd of December launch the Audio Description to coincide with the International Day of People with Disabilities.  The event will run until the 03rd of December and conclude with film screenings. Audio Description is a form of narration used to provide information surrounding key visual elements in a media work for the benefit of the blind and the visually impaired persons. The event will commence with an online Panel discussion facilitated by Mr. Simon Manda of Thisability. The panel discussion will focus on Disability Inclusion in the KZN Film Sector and tackle amongst others communication platforms, quota allocations and outreaches.

The event will serve as an Information Sharing session for the guests to get an understanding of the KwaZulu Natal Film Commission as well as highlight the audio describe films. A representative from Shazacin Accessible Media, Ms. Shakila Maharaj has been confirmed to attend the event. CEO Ms. Carol Coetzee will speak on the KZN Film Commission policies and the plans ahead as the organisation integrates the audio describe in its programme.

On the 3rd of December the KZN Film Commission will screen a myriad of Audio Described film at the KZN Film Commission Cinema.
