THE KWAZULU-NATAL FILM COMMISSION PARTICIPATION AT THE 42nd DURBAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission (KZNFC) is excited to announce its participation at this year’s Durban International Film Festival. The 42nd instalment of the Durban International Film Festival is the second instalment that is conducted virtually.
On Monday, 26 July 2021 the KZNFC’s Manager: Research and Development, Dr Ngqabutho Bhebhe will deliver his presentation under the topic “KZN Film Sector Baseline study-2020” a study that was undertaken by the Film Commission to assess the main changes that have occurred in the sector since the last baseline study conducted in 2015.
Speaking about his presentation, Dr Bhebhe said “The film sector, like many sectors in the economy, changes rapidly and is impacted by various factors such as technology, income, socio-cultural influences, legislation. To respond to these changes, the KZNFC conducted the KZN Film Baseline study to identify and highlight the main economic changes that have occurred in the sector since the last baseline study. I look forward to presenting the findings of the study at this year’s DIFF”
In addition, the KZN Film Commission has the following sessions scheduled this week at the 42nd DIFF:
- Wednesday, 28 July 2021: Importance of IP Ownership (from 13:00-14:00)
- Wednesday, 28 July 2021: Safety Contact officer report back (from 16:00-17:00)
- Thursday, 29 July 2021: Extending your reach: Audio description & Innovation (from 10:00-11:00)
