Over the course of the past few days from 10 March until 14 March, film makers, producers and production leaders from Nigeria and South Africa have come together in Durban to explore the abundance of shared creative opportunities offered through the industry.
As the third largest production destination after Hollywood and Bollywood, Nigeria’s Nollywood has continued its rise in the global film sector. South Africa is well on its way to becoming a worthy contender too, and with excellent government support in terms of incentives, grants, location access as well as distribution and marketing opportunities dedicated to the promotion of motion pictures, this growth is set to see ‘Mzanziwood’ continue its rise to fame.
The Growth of Film Production in Africa
KZN Film Commission has been thrilled to have the opportunity to discuss mutually beneficial opportunities that can be found within Africa, and as the meeting of two major film forces on the continent continues, we hope that this event will pave the way for future collaborations in the future to promote the outstanding diversity of talents found on home soil.
The South Africa and Nigeria film exploration was recently featured in the Nigerian Guardian, and published on leading news channel AllAfrica.com.
