This year’s festival is set to take place on the 14 – 25 May 2014 in Cannes Film Festival Palace, Nic in France. The Festival has attracted thousands of visitors and gained international reputation. Festival de Cannes was initiated and created by founder Mr Jean Zay, Minister for Fine Arts who was keen to establish an international cultural event in France.
The festival provides an open platform to promote the art and business, it include short and medium – length film competitions to acknowledge excellence and creativity. Short Film Corner, Producers Networks, Residence and Cinefondation are some of the categories available to assist in competing and improving film production expertise, creativity and quality.
These categories also attract new film makers and participants in buying and selling of content, making it the number one market for film professional. Marche du Film (Film Market) has made the festival a platform for film commerce as it facilitates exchanges between seller and buyers in the film industry.
The festival encourages networking and interaction between industry bodies, film commissions and stakeholders, to discuss future collaborations; it offers an opportunity to determine a particular country’s image of its cinema. Additionally, it gives massive exposure, the non-public festival is attended by many movie stars and is a popular venue for film producers to launch their new films and attempt to sell their works to the distributors who came from all over the globe.
